Learn About the CEO
Renowned as the highest selling full-time professor/recording artist in modern history, saxophonist and longtime Berklee School of Music educator Walter Beasley has, over the past 30-plus years, impacted thousands of students and contemporary jazz fans, driven by his passion for establishing lasting relationships with them – one note, one audience, one experience and one insightful breakthrough at a time.
In establishing One to One Private Home Health Care – a Yuma, Arizona based organization dedicated to the long-term non-medical at home care – Beasley’s life path and venues may have shifted, but his commitment to inspiring, helping and transforming people, one life and one family at a time, remains his core purpose.
Staffed by Certified Nurse Assistants and caregivers with local ties and some of whom have over 15 years of individual experience, One to One Private Home Health Care is dedicated to long term customized planning that addresses the unique needs of the patients and their families. The organization’s focus is taking compassionate care of individuals and contributing to their day to day quality of life, from essentials like toileting and grooming, companionship, peri baths, light exercise and activities of daily living care. Another important element of the primary caregiver’s personalized service is redirection – which could include music, special activities or shift in topic and conversation – any time the patient shows signs of becoming anxious.
From Beasley’s experience with family members, he learned the importance of consistency and developing bonds with patients and their families as the dementia progresses. Because sudden changes and new faces can exacerbate the disease, One to One Private Home Health Care ensures that each caregiver’s service will be for a minimum of 12 hours a week, with no or very minimal personnel turnover. “We try to pair the right caregiver to the right client so as to create a mutually beneficial relationship,” he says.
One to One Private Home Healthcare evolved naturally out of Lilly Pearl Private Home Health Care, which Beasley launched with Gabby Chim in 2018. Named for Beasley’s paternal grandmother, a career domestic worker who was underpaid for services which included help with the elderly. The organization helped families deal with their aging loved ones by offering general care that included housekeeping, ironing, individual and family outings and transportation needs. Its philosophy, which extends to the work now done by One to One, was “It is not only our responsibility to care, but our privilege. We hope to make your days a little brighter.”
